The original Board of Family Medicine Education for Mendocino County was seated in April of 2015. The community members who are listed below, secured tax-exempt 501(c)(3) status in December, 2015. Events planning, education and fundraising are the primary activities of the volunteer board members. Another major function of this board is to serve as a conduit with rural Mendocino and Lake County residents so that their opinions and ideas are able to be embedded in the curriculum of the Family Medicine Residency Program at Adventist Health Ukiah Valley.

About FMEMC

Picture
A key to transforming the neglected healthcare landscape in our community is through graduate medical education and family medicine residency training. FMEMC was formed in the Ukiah community to support the 3-year Family Medicine Residency Program launching at Adventist Health Ukiah Valley (AHUV) in affiliation with UC Davis in July 2019. This program has been accredited by the Accreditation Council of Graduate Medicine Education (ACGME) to have 6 resident physicians per year, with the first year of training spent at UCDavis.

Family Medicine Education for Mendocino County (FMEMC) represents the interests of the local community in the ongoing development of the Family Medicine Residency Program. FMEMC maintains a vested financial interest in the residency program and helps oversee the development of the curriculum so that the unique health care needs of our own community are woven into the training of our future doctors.

FMEMC also raises and distributes funds to programs which benefit the health of our communities such as the Vertical Change Initiative, Ukiah Valley Street Medicine, Continuing Education for our care providers: Lyme’s Disease, End of Life Care, Brain Health, Research Uses of Medical Cannabis.Family Medicine Education (for) Mendocino County is a non-profit organization with its origins in our rural community's medical crisis and with a vision into the future of a robust, healthier community.
